There's no reason a holiday should mean leaving your favourite toy at home. With a little planning, travelling with toys is simple and discreet. Here's how.
Choose a travel-friendly toy
Small, quiet, rechargeable toys are the easiest to travel with. A compact bullet like the Serein takes up almost no space and charges by USB, so there are no spare batteries to pack.
Airport security
- Toys are generally allowed in carry-on and checked bags in many countries — but rules and attitudes vary by destination, so check before you fly.
- Batteries: airlines usually require devices with lithium batteries and any spare lithium batteries to go in your carry-on. Check your airline's rules.
- Prevent accidental buzzing: use a travel lock if your toy has one, or remove the batteries from battery-powered toys.
- Lube: liquids in carry-on usually need to meet your airport's size limits, so bring a travel-size bottle or pack lube in checked luggage.
- If a bag is searched, stay calm — security staff see toys all the time.
Pack discreetly
- Keep each toy in its own pouch or soft bag — it's more discreet and keeps toys clean.
- Pack toys inside a toiletry bag or between clothes.
- A soft eye mask like the Velour Satin Sleep Mask doubles as a genuinely useful travel sleep mask.
Keep it clean on the road
Pack a small bottle of toy cleaner or use mild, fragrance-free soap and warm water, and let toys dry fully before you pack them away. Keep charging ports dry. Our cleaning guide has the details.
Charging
Fully charge rechargeable toys before you leave and pack the USB cable. Most charge from a laptop or phone charger.
